You can also tune to local District of Columbia television and radio stations for information.

Scheduled Hearings and Mediations

If you have been scheduled for a hearing or mediation on a day when there is an unscheduled closing or a delayed opening, the following policies apply.

  • If the District of Columbia Government is unexpectedly closed, hearings for that day will be postponed and rescheduling notices will be issued.
  • If there is a liberal or unscheduled leave policy in effect for District of Columbia Government employees, hearings for that day will be postponed and rescheduling notices will be issued.  However, if all parties appear and the administrative law judge assigned to the case is also available, the administrative law judge may elect to proceed with the scheduled hearing.
  • If there is a one or two hour delay for District of Columbia Government employees to report to work, all hearings scheduled to begin after the end of the delay will be held.  For example, if there is a one-hour delay, all hearings scheduled to begin after 10:00 a.m. will be held.  If there is a two-hour delay, all hearings scheduled to begin after 11:00 a.m. will be held.  Hearings scheduled prior to the delayed start will be postponed and rescheduling notices will be issued.
  • If there is a liberal or unscheduled leave policy combined with a one or two hour delay in effect for District of Columbia Government employees, hearings for that day will be postponed and rescheduling notices will be issued.
