Erika L. Pierson

Judge Pierson received her appointment as an Administrative Law Judge for the District of Columbia Office of Administrative Hearings in November 2006. She is currently the Principal Administrative Law Judge supervising cases in the Rental Housing jurisdiction and cases from the District of Columbia Public Schools. Judge Pierson has also presided over unemployment compensation hearings.

Judge Pierson came to the Office of Administrative Hearings after three years as General Counsel for the District of Columbia Public Schools and eight years as Chief of the Child Abuse and Neglect Section of the District of Columbia’s Office of the Attorney General.  Prior to coming to the District of Columbia, Judge Pierson spent two years as an Assistant State’s Attorney in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office in Chicago, Illinois, in both the Criminal Appeals and Juvenile Divisions.  As a law student, Judge Pierson completed clerkships with the Charles County Public Defender’s Officer, the Cook County Office of the Public Guardian, and the Illinois State’s Attorney Appellate Prosecutor.

Judge Pierson received her undergraduate degree from Grinnell College, and her Juris Doctor from Northern Illinois University College of Law.
